Review: Remington Ceramic Curling Wand

I am totally digging my new curling wand! I showed it in my first post, and I got it for a cool $9.98 at Target because it is a Limited Edition product. It has a temperature dial with 30 heat settings, and also came with a handy dandy glove to somewhat protect from the heat of the curling iron. On the Target website, the closest curling wand I could find was this one:

Remington Textured Curling Wand - Purple.Opens in a new window

Currently $19.99 on the website

I have tried it a total of three times: twice on my own hair, and once on my lovely sister’s!

Here’s what you should know about me hair:

-It’s naturally curly/wavy

-It has always held curl extremely well in the past when using traditional curling irons

-It’s a bit on the frizzy/dry side

Here’s the results of my second time curling my hair:

BEFORE:

My hair before I curled it. This is my hair air-dried after I took a shower, and there is no product in it.

Side view of my “before” hair. I apologize for the frizziness :(

AFTER:

It took about 20 minutes to curl, and it did take a bit longer to do the right side than the left side due to the nature of how I held the curling iron. However, it is SO EASY to curl hair with this curling wand. I can’t help thinking that it must be somewhat less damaging than a traditional curling iron as well.

Side shot!

I finished off my hair with my favorite hairspray! Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray

Overall, I am a big fan of the curling wand. It’s a lot faster and less damaging than a regular curling iron, and it’s very affordable. Even my slept-on, second day hair was still bouncy and full of curl. With a few touch ups, it looked just as good as the first day!

And now onto my sister’s experience:

Here’s what you should know about her hair:

-It is very straight with a slight wave (she had had it in a ponytail prior to the before pictures)

-After curling her hair with a traditional curling iron, it will hold a curl for a few hours, but will eventually lose it’s curl and shape

-It is normal to oily hair

BEFORE:

DURING:

A little half-n-half action!

AFTER:

I was extremely impressed with how well the wand worked with her hair! With a little of the Garnier hairspray, the curls lasted all day. After a good night’s rest, you could tell it was slept on, but the curls maintained their original vigor and it looked great in a ponytail (her words)!

I highly recommend picking up the Remington Ceramic Curling Wand if you’re looking for easy curls that last well into the second day!

It has begun + Haul!

Welcome to The Two Cent Chick! Although this is not my first blog (click here to read my other blog, Wordsmith), it is my first time hosting a blog through which I can write about and explore some of the topics I love most: bargains and giving my two cents!

I encourage you to read the Who I Am section to learn more about me and what you can expect to find on this blog!

As an example of what I’ll be writing about, here’s my first bargain shopping haul:

BATH AND BODY WORKS

Currently, Bath & Body Works (BBW) is in the middle of their Semi-Annual Sale (SAS), and I always make a point to stop by at least a few times to check out what’s on deep (we’re talking 50%-75%) clearance!

**I only shop at BBW when I have coupons-a post to come on my BBW shopping strategies soon!**

Two-cent tip: Generally, every BBW store will vary in the merchandise it sells during the SAS, simply because each store has  different backstock and items that didn’t sell during previous sales. If you love BBW like I do, it’s always beneficial to check out a few different stores. I am lucky enough to have three within reasonable driving distance!

My goodies:

True Blue Spa Need A Margarita? Citrus Body Wash (Discontinued)

This was a TOTAL score! I haven’t seen this product in stores in a long time, but I have heard rave reviews of the spot-on Margarita smell. This giant 16 fl oz. bottle caught my eye in the 75% off bin, and I double checked with an employee to make sure it was indeed 75% off of the steep $15.00 original price tag.

THE SMELL is insanely delicious, and does indeed remind me of a lime-y, salty margarita. I cannot wait to use this during the summer months!

Original price: $15.00

Clearance price: $3.75 (75% off!)

Shea Cashmere Hand Cream in Sweet Pea

I’m a huge fan of the original Shea Cashmere Hand Cream (think the consistency of frosting with an addictive vanilla scent), and I also love Sweet Pea, so this was a no-brainer. As far as Shea Cashmere on clearance, my BBW had tons of Dark Kiss, a couple of Country Chic and a random Sweet Pea (therefore I HAD to grab it!)

Original Price: $10.00

Clearance Price $2.50 (75% off!)

Fresh Lemon HandiBac Anti-Bacterial Hand Spray

This was not on sale, however:

-I love great smelling hand sanitizers

-This one is ridiculously fast drying since it’s a spray

It’s a crisp, fresh lemon (obviously) scent, and I really love how quickly it dries.

Original Price: $4.00

TARGET

Target always puts their Christmas merchandise on 50% clearance on December 26, and then later in the week everything generally becomes 70-75% off, so you know I had to stop by and see what was left!

Remington Limited Edition 1/2-1" Ceramic Curling Wand

I’ve been on the search for an inexpensive curling iron sans harsh clamp, so I was so happy to stumble upon a whole shelf of Remington hot hair tools on clearance. My Target also had mini and full size straighteners!

Check out the great price:

I can’t wait to try this out!

Lip Smacker 5 Pack Collection (Vanilla, Strawberry, Pink Lemonade, Watermelon, Cotton Candy)

One thing you should know about me: I am addicted to lip products, specifically, lip balms. It’s a problem.

I love me some Lip Smackers, and these flavors are classics. I was willing to pay the $4.99, but then I made my way over to the handy Target price checker, and discovered…

Original Price: $4.99

Clearance Price: $1.49

But, seriously? $1.49 for FIVE lip balms? Aka, 30 cents a piece? Yes, please.

ELF Eyelash Kit (From the Holiday Collection)

My obsession with ELF (Eyes Lips Face) will have to wait for another post. But for now, let’s talk about how ELF is already an inexpensive brand. But then, because products are in “holiday” packaging, they must be immediately clearanced out after the holidays. God bless Target and ELF.

I’ve always wanted to try false lashes, just for fun! And the adorable bonus eyelash curler and tweezers are just plain awesome.

Original Price: $3.00

Clearance Price: $2.55

And thus concludes my first post. I also made a special trip to Ulta which I will post about sometime soon!

Thanks for reading!
